'eclectic but damn good selection of beats that keep this EP upbeat; making you want to return back to it and listen again. I’d definitely recommend to give this a listen as I think you will be hearing a lot about these guys in the future.’ (Wordplay Magazine)
What this impressive debut does is combine the clever wordplay of Organized Konfusion and the gritty realism of Task Force on a music bed of west-coast, feel good instrumentals.’ (Virgin)
‘The album features nothing but an abundance of metaphors, clever wordplay, hidden meanings and great subject matter which in this day and age can be hard to find’ (UndergroundHH.com)
‘The 7 track delivery features some sharp samples, exquisite cuts and some top notch rhyme schemes. The result is an LP that keeps you intrigued, each track hitting up a different vibe’ (Hiphop In English)
Broken Poetz are rappers D.Know & Mystero. Hailing from Andover (Hampshire) in the South of England, they formed in 2012 and put out the sort of deep, soulful, easy listening style of hiphop that crosses genres, creates good vibes and makes them fairly unique in the scene.
They have so far released two critically acclaimed EP’s and a number of singles. Their debut releases was titled ‘The Pen, The Pad & The Things We Had’, and featured the smash hit single ‘Seldom Seen’ produced by Jabbathekut, which gained regular play on both Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra and underground stations such as The Bottomless Crates, ITCH FM, Reprezent Radio and number of local stations.
The second release from Broken Poetz was ‘The Self Fulfilling Prophecies’ released in the summer of 2013. This was a more down tempo affair than the first release, and really showed Broken Poetz versatility and their ability to evoke emotion through their music.
Since forming Broken Poetz have built up a big following and have been booked to perform all across the UK, supporting acts such as The Mouse Outfit, Split Prophets and Dead Players along the way.
2014 is shaping up to be a big year for Broken Poetz with the release of their debut full length album titled ‘Soul Searching’ scheduled for release towards the end of the year. The first single from this album ‘Made Up My Mind’ (produced by Runone & Molotov) was released in June 2014 along with a video produced with customary skill by Sektion Red. If the single is anything to go by, ‘Soul Searching’ will be their finest work to date and is rumored to feature some very big collaborations and features from some of the scenes leading artists.
